In a country where cinema was, until recently, the primary source of entertainment it seemed impossible not to be swept away by the hysteria around it all. What was most fascinating was how seriously people took the medium inspite of it being pure entertainment.
Regardless of what you may believe, most of us are here today driven primarily by passion and love for the medium of cinema. That is my story as well.
Through my father, it was not hard to get a break in the industry but making these chances count and through these, opening bigger avenues was not an easy path at all. My first job in the industry was as an assistant to Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao garu, who is incidentally also the Editor for this film. This was also the time spent in the company of MM Keeravani, who I’ve grown up with, and it is here that my knowledge of music grew exponentially.
After a number of jobs working with my father V Vijayendra Prasad, Director Kranthi Kumar as well as collaborating on scripts with Gunnam Gangaraju and Chandrasekhar Yeleti, I was lucky to get a chance to work on social awareness ads for the State Government along with the legendary director K Raghavendra Rao. This was followed by the more famous part of my career so far, where I had the chance to work on the serial Shanti Nivasam for RK Teleshow Pvt Ltd.
Following this was when I was able to gather a large following for the kind of action and fight scenes in my film. But I am a filmmaker, a storyteller and in this quest, I was really convinced about the viability of this story. In this direction, we are lucky to have Sunil on board for our film. He brings with him years of experience as a comic performer. But you will be surprised, just as I was by his undying respect for the skill of acting.
Written by SS Kanchi, Maryada Ramanna was a lot of fun to shoot, more so because of the conviction and faith that the producers had in me. Together with them, I value the time spent by MM Keeravani garu, Ram Prasad, Kamala Kannan and Ravinder who have supported me and have given wings to my dreams and imagination.
I am grateful to call these people more than just colleagues or co-workers. They are part of my large and harmonious Tollywood family.
And together we bring to you our family oriented movie that’s going to hit screens soon. Here’s hoping you all also go through the same range of emotions that we felt while making it.
